Collections

Archives PhotoThe Archives holds collections relating to aviation safety. These are in various stages of processing and may not be easily searched. We welcome inquires from anyone who is interested in their contents. Over time, we will be adding to our holdings with new collections relating to aviation safety and security.

Aviation Accident Reports Collection
This primarily digital collection consists of nearly 2,000 reports from the US, Canada, the UK, and New Zealand. Additional reports are added as they are donated to our repository.

David S. Hall Collection
Dr. Hall has held various positions in the aviation profession and is a specialist in mishap prevention and investigation. He has provided service to the legal profession in the area of accident cause determination and accident reconstruction. His collection consists of 117 linear feet of material, mostly related to accident investigation for litigation purposes.

David Haddon Holladay Collection
David Holladay was an aircraft accident investigator for more than 45 years and he was a professor at the University of Southern California from 1956-1970. His collection which consists of 155 linear feet of material, most of it categorized by aircraft accident file.

ISASI Collection
ISASI (International Society of Air Safety Investigators) promotes air safety by the exchange of ideas, experiences and information about aircraft accident investigations, and to otherwise aid in the advancement of flight safety. The ISASI collection consists mainly of aviation accident reports and air safety publications.

Charles Mercer Collection
”Chuck” Mercer had a long career as an employee of the Lockheed Corporation. He was a member of the company’s accident investigation team and he has lectured in accident investigation and aviation safety at the University of Southern California.

C.O. Miller Collection
C.O. Miller was a well-known figure in the aviation safety field. He is a member of the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame and he was a founding member of the ERAU CASE Advisory Council. His collection consists primarily of his subject files relating to safety and his publications.

Christine Negroni Collection
Christine Negroni is an aviation writer, investigator, and journalist. She has worked as a television correspondent with CBS News, CNN, and various local television stations. Her book, DEADLY DEPARTURE on the crash of TWA Flight 800, was a New York Times Notable Book in 2000. Ms. Negroni sits on the FAA's Aging Transport Systems Rulemaking Advisory Committee, representing the National Air Disaster Alliance. She lectures on aviation and air safety to schools and organizations and is interviewed frequently on American and British television. Ms. Negroni lectured and was honored at a book signing at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott Campus, in February of 2007. The Negroni Collection consists mainly of personal notes, government documents, news articles and interviews of witnesses from the crash of TWA 800. The Archive holds both editions of Deadly Departure.

S. Harry Robertson Collection
Dr. Robertson’s research has been instrumental in saving lives. In 1976 he founded Robertson Aviation in Tempe, Arizona to develop crashworthy auxiliary fuel systems, initially for U.S. Army and USAF special operations helicopters. These are now available for extending the range of all military helicopters. Robertson is an experimental test pilot, member of the OX 5 Aviation Pioneers Hall of Fame, Army Aviation Hall of Fame, Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame and the National Guard's Legion de Lafayette. Dr. Robertson currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The Robertson Collection consists of over 15,000 aviation accident photographs, thousands of technical papers, a video library and accident investigation cases he has worked on.

Skyrage.com Web Site Materials
The Skyrage.com collection includes information from the web site, news coverage, correspondence, and research papers on the security issue of disruptive passengers.

Unprocessed Collections
There are several collections that are unprocessed, but open for research.
